Leaf, infusion and liquor
Colour difference against your blend standard for dry leaf, infused leaf and liquor, plus particle-size distribution and fibre content — before shipment, or when a buyer questions a batch.
Colour & appearance measurement · Colombo
We measure colour and appearance under controlled conditions, and tell you — in numbers — how close your sample is to your standard. For tea, gemstones, textiles and anything else where “it looks right” decides the price.
Light, surroundings, eyesight and fatigue all change what we see. Words like “bright”, “coppery” or “cornflower” can’t be checked or compared — so quality disputes turn into opinions.
Measurement settles it. A controlled light, a calibrated instrument and an agreed standard turn appearance into numbers that a buyer and seller can both accept.
How it works
We set up your reference samples and the tolerances that matter to you and your buyers.
Send us samples, or we come to you. Every sample is captured under controlled light with calibrated instruments.
Colour differences, spectra and appearance measures, explained in plain language and reviewed by a colour scientist.
Every request and report lives in your client portal, so drift shows up before it becomes a dispute.
Industries

A colour and spectrum record for coloured stones to sit alongside the lab certificate — useful for matching pairs, documenting colour-change and describing a stone to a buyer who can’t see it.
Objective shade comparison for lab dips, bulk lots and trims, shade-band sorting and lot-to-lot consistency — the numbers behind “pass” or “fail”.
Spices, coconut products, packaging and print, cosmetics, coatings and ceramics. If you can sample it, we can measure it — tell us what you need.
What a report shows
Each report compares your sample with its standard, flags anything outside tolerance, and says in plain words what changed and what to look at. It is signed off by a colour scientist before it reaches you.
Instruments
Huey is our imaging system: a calibrated camera and controlled lighting in a closed cabinet, with machine-vision software that measures colour, size and shape across a whole sample — not just one spot.
For gemstones and transparent samples, a spectrometer records the full spectrum, so colour can be described and compared exactly.
